From San Marcos Record: Rattler Strong Man – Lynn Spivey, San Marcos High School senior, will bear the brunt of Rattler track fortunes this year in the discus and shot events. Spivey was one of the highest point winners for Coach Roland McFall's team last year.

Lynn Spivey, left will compete in the shot-put event at the State Track Meet while the four girls, left to right, Beth Ellis, Fay Cliett, Marilyn Turpin, and Mary Kay Turpin will enter speech events. Stanley Leffingwell, right, missed the state meet by an eyelash as he placed second in boy's extemporaneous speaking in regional.
