Everette Swinney talks about his upbringing in Ohio and higher education in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and finally at UT-Austin. Along with describing his family and participation in academic societies, Dr. Swinney discusses his writings on the 14th and 15th Amendments. He recalls his teaching experiences in the history department (specifically as chairman) and his recent interest in developing software and teaching computer courses. He reflects on how student life has changed from the 1960s to the 1980s, noting the impacts of the principle of in loco parentis, student activism, computers, and the General Studies Program.

From 1999-2001, NASA partnered with History students at Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) to conduct interviews with former employees who lived in the Central Texas area. Interviewees include managers, engineers, technicians, doctors, astronauts, and other employees of NASA and aerospace contractors who served in key roles during the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab, and Shuttle programs.

Johnny talks with an unknown woman about writing his biography and the various things he has done with it, such as writing his own death at the end. The woman also talks to Johnny about writing her biography as well. The conversation eventually turns to talk about how Johnny went around and interviewed the people that he knows for his biography so that they could write their own story for it. Johnny tells a story of a former girlfriend who was forced by her father to drop out of college and forbade her from seeing him again and how they finally met up 30 years later.
