Robert Barton describes his early life and education in the Buda and Kyle areas, specifically recalling how his cattle-driving family came to settle in Texas, attending Buda High School, and graduating from Southwest Texas State Teachers College after serving in the military during the Korean War. He discusses buying, running, and selling the Kyle News newspaper, as well as operating the Colloquium Bookstore. He speaks about the changes San Marcos and Texas politics have gone through over time, including his work with the Hays County Democratic Party. Lewis Eckols began working for GVEC in 1947 and was manager of the electric operations division at Gonzales.  He talks about how he worked his way up the career ladder at GVEC to his current position of manager of the electric operations division, what he and his branch's responsibilities are, and what he believes makes GVEC unique.
